After following all of the steps to install the VMware workstation, download the cloudera-quickstart-vm-5.5.0-0 image, I modified the VM settings to start with a Linux OS with the Red Hat distribution. When I started the VM, it automatically boots to CentOS 6.4. There is one white bar at the bottom of the screen and when I clicked inside it, the cursor dissapeared. I was unable to write any keystroke commands. I exited out of it by typing Ctrl Alt.
What do I need to do to get the Linux GUI to show up when I start the VM as it is shown in Day 11 of the Big Data Haddoop videos?
